Vintage 14K gold solid opal diamond statement cocktail rin
An elegant 20th-century ring crafted in 14K yellow gold (585) and set with an oval solid opal cabochon of approximately 4 carats, accented by small diamonds to each shoulder.
The opal displays a lively play-of-colour, with flashes of green, yellow and sky-blue against a serene milky-pearl white ground. It is a genuine solid opal rather than a doublet or triplet, showing a single-piece structure and a consistently rich optical effect across the body of the stone.
The opal is mounted in a polished yellow gold setting with a clean, flowing profile and a comfortable shank. The accent diamonds add subtle brilliance and frame the central stone without overwhelming it. The style and character of the opal suggest an Australian origin, as hydrophane Ethiopian opals only became widely used from the 1990s onwards, whereas this design is more typical of earlier 20th-century work.
A very wearable vintage statement ring, suited to collectors of fine jewellery and opal lovers alike.
Total weight: approx. 4.33 g
Ring size: UK Q (approx. EU 57)
Opal: approx. 4 ct (estimated)
Excellent vintage condition overall. The opal shows no visible chips, cracks, or surface-reaching fractures, and its play-of-colour remains bright and attractive. The gold surfaces are clean with only light wear consistent with careful use, and the accent diamonds appear intact and well aligned in their settings. Presents very well.
