Royal Worcester blush ivory porcelain urn vase 1716 Art Nouveau 1903
A wonderfully elegant Royal Worcester blush ivory vase dating to 1903, with just the right balance of delicate flowers and mildly intimidating lion heads.
This antique Worcester vase, shape 1716, is decorated with a hand-painted spray of wildflowers including pink poppies, daisies, and grasses, all set against the factory’s famous blush ivory ground — one of those glazes that somehow manages to look soft, warm, and slightly luminous all at once.
The twin scroll handles terminate in sculptural gilt lion mask mounts, because apparently Edwardian porcelain designers believed flowers alone were not enough excitement for one vase. The gently flared neck and square gilt base give the piece a pleasing architectural structure beneath the flowing Art Nouveau lines.
A refined early 20th-century cabinet piece and a lovely example of Royal Worcester’s blush ivory wares at the height of their popularity.
