Rare 19th-Century Kutch Indian Silver Dish Modelled as a Fish and Snake, c. 1890
A rare Kutch Indian silver dish modelled as a fish entwined by a snake, dating to the late 19th century. The surface is entirely hand-chased with intricate scale, foliate and geometric decoration, typical of high-quality Kutch workmanship. The sculptural detail is crisp, with excellent repoussé work and applied feet beneath.
A charming and unusual figural piece, suitable as a sweetmeat dish, card tray or decorative display.
