Japanese Meiji era Yamatoku kiln pottery Imari plate

An antique Japanese Imari plate/charger from the Meiji period featuring a central floral panel encircled by outer panels adorned with hand-painted flowers and fruit in stunning red, blue, green, yellow, and gold hues.

Bears the marks of the Yamatoku (Mountain virtue) Kiln in Saga Prefecture that began production at the beginning of Meiji (1868-1912) period and still operates today. According to a Hizen marks book this Yamatoku mark dates to 'late Meiji - Taisho', tentatively 1920s to 30s.

Made in Yamatoku kiln, Japan, c. 1920's
