Victorian Edinburgh crystal 'Thistle' decanter set, 2 cordial glasses
Antique Victorian Edinburgh crystal 'Thistle' liqueur decanter set with two sherry / cordial glasses and a silver plated stand. The decanter has an inverted thistle form, slice-cut neck with hob nail cutting on the shoulder, spiral facet cut stopper and a star cut base.
The liqueur glasses are etched with a thistle design to flaring bowls that rest on slice cut stems above low conical radial undercut feet. The bulbous bases of the bowls are faceted to resemble a thistle bract, while the fluted middles resembles an unopened flower.
The stand has a fluted openwork handle with ball decoration and is engraved with an ornate flowering thistle design; the stand rests on four cast thistle feet.
Stand made by William Mammatt & Sons, Sheffield, c. 1890’s.
