Mid 19th century Dutch perfume or peppermint / snuff box in embossed silver, called "lodereindoosje". Scalloped polylobed shape is chased and engraved all over with looping friezes. The front is decorated with a rhombus cartouche and the domed lid is engraved with flowers. Beautiful piece of history that can be used as a trinket or pill box today.
Marked with lion passant “2” for 833 silver, Minerva’s head with “M” for the Schoonhoven assay office and “Y” for 1858 date letter.
