Shoushan stone seal with pair of Shi Lions
A finely hand-carved seal in Shoushan stone, prized in China for scholar’s objects and seals. The waxy, matte surface and warm creamy tone are typical of the stone; the sculptor modelled a pair of Buddhist lions (shi) on the top. One side bears a light incised inscription; the base is carved in zhuanshu (seal script) and retains red paste.
