Sitzendorf porcelain pair of figurines of a flower girl and her cavalier
A pair of matching porcelain figurines depicting a rustic flower girl and a gentleman who we can safely assume has just purchased a flower in order to gift it to her. Both are dressed in Georgian attire – the lady depicts an idealised version of a peasant girl, and the man is clearly a gentleman of leisure, but little taste as evidenced by his choice to combine a green overcoat with red bows on his stockings. The figurines rest on fluted bases decorated with gilt and flowers in typical Rococo fashion.
