Mid-Victorian sterling silver fish server set embossed with Renaissance sea monsters
Very unusual and wonderfully ornate Victorian silver handled two piece fish server set comprising a large fork and knife. The handles are embossed with shells and a depiction of Renaissance dolphins, portrayed as sea monsters. The silver plated blade of the knife is pierced and engraved to depict the Poseidon riding a sea monster.
Amazing example of Victorian craftsmanship and imagination.
Made by Henry Atkin and fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1851
